HWSE Products

In its pursuit of excellence and innovation, PetroHab™ has developed three distinct HWSE products that cater to varying onshore and offshore applications. These products include the Petro-Habitat™, which is a pressurized HWSE that is particularly suited for use in classified hazardous areas.

The Petro-Lite™ is a closed or open-top HWSE that is well suited for refinery and industrial plant applications.

The Petro-Shield™, which is designed to both contain ignition sources generated by Hot Work and to shelter persons working on pipelines from various environmental conditions.

Designed For Specific Applications

Although each of PetroHab’s products is designed for specific applications, every PetroHab HWSE employs PetroHab’s patented Quadra-Lock® panel interlocking technology and boasts, in addition to virtually limitless.

  • 100% manufactured in the United States of America.
  • Integrated heavy-duty D rings to enhance suspension and tie-down capabilities.
  • Modular, interchangeable, and replaceable panels.
  • All thread is made of highly fire-resistant Kevlar™.
  • All panels are made from highly fire-resistant materials that are certified to ANSI/FM 4950 and are capable of withstanding continuous heat up to 1,000 degrees Fahrenheit.

Petro-Lite ™

Safe and portable Hot Work Safety Enclosure.

The Petro-Lite ™ is a portable hot work safety enclosure that comes in both an open and closed top configuration. All of its panels utilize PetroHab’s patented “Quadra-Lock® panel interlocking technology to attach securely. They are made of silver and gray premium silicone coated fiberglass fabric that is ANSI/FM 4950 certified.

Increasing Productivity & Enhancing Safety

This unique and efficient product is designed to increase productivity, decreasing costs, and enhancing safety.

With a minimal amount of workforce (no more than two people are needed), the panels that make up the Petro-Lite can be attached in no more than five minutes and can be affixed to standard scaffolding (through either or both the Velcro cinch straps or the “D” ring eyelets that are incorporated into each of those panels) or to an optional stand-alone custom made the frame for use when scaffolding is unavailable.

Two of the opposing vertical panels incorporate a “door” portion that allows personnel to enter and exit the Petro-Lite. In contrast, the two remaining vertical panels feature a “Cross-Hairs” design that allows for objects such as pipes or structural metals to intrude into and protrude out of the Petro-Lite such that hot work can safely be performed on such objects inside the enclosure.

High-temperature Resistant

The materials used to make up the Petro-Lite can withstand very high temperatures. The vertical walls can withstand continuous temperatures of up to 1,000° F, while the optional vermiculite coated welding pad can be used for the floor portion. It is heat resistant up to 1,500° F and can withstand the constant impact and collection of sparks and slag.

As opposed to the open-top Petro-Lite, the closed top configuration of this HWSE is designed to shield persons working in the Petro-Lite from the elements and enhance this enclosure’s ability to contain the by-products of hot work. PetroHab offers this product either with or without a stand-alone frame.

Petro-Shield ™

An Innovative Portable and Modular Enclosure for Performing Hot Work on Pipelines.

The Petro-Shield ™ is a mobile and modular Hot Work Safety Enclosure (“HWSE”) that is designed to contain hot work-related operations in the field while sheltering personnel from environmental conditions.

This unique product is particularly well suited for operations such as welding on pipelines, well-head testing, pipe coating, pipe inspection, and hydro-testing. The tubular frame is constructed from aluminum pipes, and its length is readily expandable in 4’ increments.

The panels that cover the Petro-Shield™ frame utilizes PetroHab’s patented Quadra-Lock® panel interlocking technology are manufactured from fire retardant silicone-coated material that is certified to ANSI/FM 4950 and are reinforced with fire retardant webbing and Kevlar thread.

Additionally, “D” rings are incorporated into the exterior vertical webbing strips to provide additional tie-down capabilities whenever desired.

Security of Crew

Designed with welders in mind, the Petro-Shield™ enhances the safety and security of crews operating under varying inclement weather conditions. When hot work is conducted in extreme temperature, PetroHab offers either optional an air conditioning unit or a heater that can be securely mounted outside the enclosure.

Safe-Stop™

PetroHab’s state-of-the-art Safe-Stop™ Safety Shutdown System (SSS) is designed and manufactured in the United States of America and works in conjunction with the 100% US-made pressurized Petro-Habitat™ Hot Work Safety Enclosure (HWSE) to provide unrivaled safety whenever hot work is conducted in the vicinity of potential flammables, such as in Zone 1 or 2 rated hazardous areas on oil rigs and refineries.

By continuously monitoring the pressure inside the Petro-Habitat HWSE, the Safe-Stop SSS enhances the safety of the Petro-Habitat HWSE by only allowing hot work to be conducted inside the HWSE if the air pressure therein exceeds that outside the enclosure, thereby creating what is often referred to as a “positive pressure environment.”

The positive pressure environment in the HWSE serves to prevent unwanted flammable gases from entering the enclosure, which allows hot work to be safely undertaken inside the Petro-Habitat, without the need to shut down the facility in which the hot work is to take place.

PetroHab’s Safe-Stop SSS is the most compact and lightweight modular control system available in the market today. It is designed with the end user’s gas detection and safety needs in mind.

Among the many functions that the Safe-Stop system performs are the monitoring of pressure within the Petro-Habitat, detection of various gases both inside and outside the HWSE, and monitoring Oxygen levels in the HWSE.

Optionally, external gas detectors are offered, which may be used to enhance safety within the general area in which the hot work is to be conducted.

Moreover, the safe-stop system is fully compliant with the “Requirements for Pressurized Welding Enclosures (PWE) when welding within 10 ft. of Pressurized Process Equipment or Wellbay” checklist that is promulgated by the U.S. Bureau of Safety and Environmental Enforcement (BSEE).

PetroHab™ has always had the best habitats on the market, since the panels of Petro-Habitat HWSEs.

When the Petro-Habitat HWSEs are used in conjunction with the Safe-Stop SSS, end-users can rest assured that they are benefiting from the safest, most compact, and most innovative hot work enclosure solution in the oil & gas Industry today.
